- How original. You do know that Bandai is already selling the Atmark
- Pippen in Japan? The Pippen uses a PPC 603-66Mhz chip, has 16-bit stereo
- sound, a 4x CD-ROM drive, 6 Megs of RAM (the OS uses 2), a 14.4 modem, a
- GeoPort Serial port (capable of up to 2Mb's/sec), and since it runs a
- modified version of the MacOS, the most popular Internet software is
- trivial to port. Where is Java, Shockwave, RealAudio, and a VRML capable
- browser? It takes a lot to keep the non-computer geek types happy. How
- much is the Amiga solution in U.S. dollars? The Pippen is expected to
- cost about $599 in the U.S. It sells for $799 in Japan now.

-
- Not really, the Pippen is perfectly capable of playimg sounds and video
- simultaneously and since ot comes with a CD-ROM drive, it can hold a lot
- more content.

- The "advanced home user" would never buy anything like this. This past
- quarter, computer makers were taken by surprised to find that the home market
- wasn't overly price conscience, they were buying high-end systems. They
- wouldn't even buy a computer with less than a gig of hard drive space.

- What good will a PowerPC card do if the OS doesn't support and there are
- no programs for it.
